Ichigo Daifuku (Strawberry Mochi)

My impression of all Daifuku: Mochi-covered red-bean paste lump. Very sweet Japanese dessert.

I didn`t think much of this pink Ichigo Daifuku at first but I couldn`t figure out why so many had disappeared from the supermarket shelf at such a fast rate.

In tune with the kiasu spirit, I got one.

I was prepared to have my tastebuds murdered with awfully sweet red-bean paste when I bit into a strawberry.

Now that was a real surprise.

A whole strawberry cushioned inside.
As we all know, strawberries have a slight sour tinge which is why they go so well with sweet stuff like chocolate and cream. Similarly, it matches the sweet red-bean paste very well too.

Ok, nothing very special but still a welcomed change from the normal daifuku.
